Clinical Observation on Nonspecific Female Urethritis

Abstract
"Clinical observation on 86 of nonspecific female urethritis between 17 and 77 years of age was made in Dept. of Urology, Han Ill Hospital, during the period from May 1, 1969 to April 30, 1970 and the following results were obtained. 1) of 86 cases, 56(68. 6%) were observed in the age groups of 21~40 years and 21 (23%) had experienced urethritis or cystitis previously. 2) The most common urological symptoms were frequency 90.7%, tenesmus 67.4%, small and weak stream 48.9%, urgency 30. 2%, dysuria 24.4%, terminal pain 23.3% and hesitancy 17.4%. The common non-urinary symptoms were suprapubic discomfort 48.9%, lumbago 30.2%, dyspareuria 16.3% flank pain 16.3%, and general weakness 5.8%. 3) of the 86 cases, 71(83%) were normal in urinalysis (below 4 W.B.C./H.P.F. and 3 R.B.C./H.P.F.) and 68 (79%) were bacteriologically negative on Gram`s stain. 4) On endoscopy, common finding was trabeculation which was revealed in 74 cases(86%) and bladder neck changes were found in all of the trabeculated cases. The endoscopic findings were classified into the four groups described by Lee and Kim (1963). Group I: Almost normal urethra and bladder neck or with mild mucosal changes 8 cases (9.3%) Group II : Narrowing of the urethral lumen without marked mucosal changes 22 cases(25. 58%) Group III: Diffuse bullous edema of the urethra and bladder neck. 20 cases (23. 25%) Group IV: Bullous edema with pesudopolyps or irregular urethral lumen 36 cases (41. 86%)"
